Mrs. Laura Pellegrino has been part of the St. Ambrose School since 2017 as a substitute teacher then became an enrichment teacher for first grade in 2019. She has been a first-grade teacher since 2020.
Prior to joining the St. Ambrose school, Laura was a special education autistic teacher in Staten Island. She has worked for the NYC Board of Education for 19 years. Mrs. Pellegrino received her Bachelor of Science Degree from The College of Staten Island in 1998. She received her Master’s in Special Education in 2003. During this time, Laura studied abroad at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She also graduated from the Seymour Joseph Institute to become a sign language interpreter.
Over her twenty years in education, she has learned to always find a way to meet all the students’ needs. She understands that children learn differently and at different paces. She accommodates her students through differentiating learning and using many hand-on activities.
